Four-Ingredient Frozen Watermelon Granita

Four-Ingredient Frozen Watermelon Granita

Recipe By: @athomewithastghik

This Watermelon Granita is delicious and so refreshing. It’s such a tasty treat for those hot summer days! This recipe uses no refined sugars and will surely be a summer poolside favorite this year.

Ingredients:

🍉 4 cups cubed watermelon
🍉 1 1/2 cups orange juice, freshly squeezed or not from concentrate
🍉 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lime juice
🍉 2 tablespoons pure maple syrup

Method:

Cut the watermelon into chunks, measure 4 cups, and place them in a blender. Also, add the orange juice, lime juice, and maple syrup.

Blend until the mixture is smooth.

Pour it into a glass freezer-safe container ( I used an 8-cup container that is freezer safe, but you may also use a 9x13 glass container). Cover it with its lid and place it in the freezer for 3 hours.

Follow the process below:

  1. After 3 hours, remove the lid and scrape it with a fork (focusing on the corners). It should be of a slushy consistency. Put the lid back on and back in the freezer for an additional hour.

  2. Remove from the freezer and scrape it with a fork, making sure to mash any large chunks and focus on scraping the corners. Place it back in the freezer for another hour.

  3. Remove from the freezer and scrape it with a fork, making sure to mash any large chunks, and don’t forget the corners again. Place it back in the freezer for another hour.
Scrape with a fork, serve, and enjoy!

Continue this process until it’s at the consistency you prefer-(either a slushy like consistency or that of shaved ice).

Note: if it sits in the freezer overnight or longer, remove it from the freezer and allow it to sit at room temperature for a few minutes or until you can scrape it with a fork.
